In a hotly anticipated local derby, Bristol Harlequins travelled to face Old Redcliffians III, determined to preserve their unbeaten start to the season. Both sides came out with intensity, but Reds made their mark early on, scoring two unanswered tries in the first half. Despite a strong effort from Quins, the halftime score remained 12-0 to Reds, with Quins also suffering the setback of losing two players to injury.
Half Time: 12 - 0
The second half saw Old Redcliffians further their lead with a penalty goal, and even when reduced to 13 players following two yellow cards, they managed to add another three points.
Ed Wander finally broke through for Quins, with David Priddy adding the conversion to put them on the board.
However, Reds responded with their third try of the day, keeping the pressure on.
Quins staged a late rally as David Priddy crossed the line twice within four minutes, closing the gap to just six points. The second try came from a sweeping team move, showcasing quick hands and fluid passing. With time ticking down, Quins looked the more dangerous and seemed poised to score again.
However, in the final moments, Old Reds broke through against the run of play, securing a last-minute try and sealing the game 32-19, taking all five points and handing Quins their first loss of the season.
A tough result for Quins, but they will aim to bounce back when they welcome Gordano II to Valhalla on Saturday
