Trys: Gary Britt (1) Chris Chikawanah (1) Lee Pearn (1) Tommy Gustafson (1)
Conversions: Dylan Pearce (2) George Phillips (1)
The first of two Friday night lights matches and this one did not fail to disappoint with a match that provided 8 trys, some huge hits and a great spectacle for those watching!
As per the other pre season matches the game was split into quarters to allow the sides to make changes and try out various players in different positions.
After a good start from Quins it was Broad Plain who scored first after Quins conceded a penalty inside their own 22 but just 10 minutes later Quins had leveled the match with Gary Britt scoring his second try in as many games this one coming from a fantastic driving maul the try was coolly converted by Dylan Pearce to give us a two point lead at the end of the 1st quarter! It was Broad Plain who again struck first in the 2ns quarter another penalty this time taken quickly and worked through the hands but as in the first quarter Quins came back just 10 minutes later. Great work from Christian Templar to spoil a Broad Plain line out inside their 22 for Chris Chikawanah to cross the white wash leaving the scores tied at 12 a piece at half time!
The start of the 3rd quarter saw Quins strike first with another fantastic driving maul after spoiling yet another line out this time it was Tommy Gustafson who dotted down and Dylan Pearce got his 2nd conversion of the match but just 3 minutes Broad Plain squared the match again with a great switch in the centers to dot down under the posts making the match all square heading into the final quarter! The final quarter saw Quins get reduced to 14 men as Dan Northcott received a yellow card for a high tackle out on the win but the numerical disadvantage didn't stop Quins fly half Lee Pearn crashing over in the corner after a quick tap penalty! With just 5 minutes of the match remaining Broad Plain took advantage of Quins' tired legs and scored a break away try from inside their own half to level the match. There was still time for another break away which was ended by a crunching try saving tackle from Lee Pearn late on in the game.
