Another fantastic match under the lights at Stothert & Pitt to start the season and to give Quins a win to push forward with for the rest of the season! There was great support for Quins on the sidelines which didn't go unnoticed by the lads on the pitch!
The first half saw Quins camp out in Stothert's half having the lions share of possession to go along with the territory! After trying to break through with no luck Quins were awarded a penalty, which they opted to kick, unfortunately, David Priddy pulled it wide of the posts. Despite the pressure from Quins it was Stotherts who scored first! Straight from the restart Quins once again applied the pressure & remained camped out in Stohert's half. Eventually their perseverance paid off - after 3 penalty scrums Quins managed to get over the line with scrum-half George Phillips dotting down to level the match on the stroke of half time!
Straight from the restart Stoherts put the pressure on & with Quins still asleep from the break scored & converted! This bought about an instant response from Quins who, moments later, went & scored a fantastic try once again Gary Britt dotting down from the back of a driving maul, Chris Page taking over kicking duties, leveled the match! Once again Quins kept the pressure on but, from the back of a scrum, against the run of play, Stohert showed some quick hands to get the ball out wide & score. Quins continued to pile on the pressure throughout the half but couldn't quite get over the whitewash however, Chris Page did manage to add to his tally with a penalty goal making it a two-point game! Then with just 10 minutes to go Christie Maclaurin smashed through the midfield to dot down under the posts with Chris Page adding the extras! The match then descended into a frantic 10 minutes with Quins loosing two players, first, David Priddy, sent to the bin for a high tackle & just a few moments later Chris Page followed, but this time it was red! Quins managed to survive the onslaught that followed from Stotherts with the match finishing Stothert & Pitt 17 Bristol Harlequins 22!
