The Bristol Harlequins RFC Annual General Meeting (AGM) was well-attended by members, both seasoned and new, reflecting the club's vibrant community spirit. The meeting was an opportunity to reflect on the past season's successes, discuss financial challenges, and outline exciting plans for the future.
Chairperson’s Report
Chairperson Kevin Morgan delivered an encouraging report, highlighting the club's second successive third-place finish. This achievement sets a solid foundation for the 2024/25 season. The Junior section's continued growth is a significant milestone, enabling the club to field a 2nd XV next season as some colts move up to senior rugby.
Morgan also hinted at behind-the-scenes developments, including ongoing work with Penny’s and potential land development behind the 2nd team pitch. He emphasized the urgent need for more volunteers from within the club community, urging players, parents, grandparents, and relatives to get involved. A heartfelt thanks was extended to the current volunteers for their invaluable contributions. Updating the club's constitution to reflect modern standards is also on the agenda for the coming year.
Treasurer’s Financial Report
Honorary Treasurer Kelvin Hawkes presented a financial report showing a deficit of £7,500.94 for the last period. This shortfall was attributed to a last-minute sponsorship withdrawal and fewer home (England) matches, which are crucial for ticket revenue. However, the club plans to host more off-season events to sustain income. Looking ahead, the club is developing competitive sponsorship packages for the 2025/26 season. The good news includes increased availability of tickets for home (England) matches, with allocations for four Autumn Internationals and three Six Nations matches already filled.
Secretary’s Update on Membership and Fees
Honorary Secretary Dean Jones proposed minor changes to the membership and match fees for 2024/25. Family memberships will now include voting rights for two adults, and Touch membership fees are reduced to £40 as it will be played for only half the season. All other fees remain unchanged, with an early bird discount for those who pay in full by the end of September 2024.

Kevin Morgan announced his final year as Chairperson, alongside Kelly Britt and Louise Braithwaite in their respective roles. Paul Skuse is expected to step into the Chairperson role next year. Dean Jones replaces Sam Beresford as the International Ticket Contact.
