Once again, we were treated to a thrilling contest at The Clubhouse as Bristol Harlequins extended their winning streak to four games with a dominant second-half performance against Old Sulians.
The match began brightly for Quins, with Louis Meacham crossing the whitewash early on to give his side the lead. However, the momentum shifted when Lee Pearn received the first yellow card of the game, reducing Quins to 14 men. Old Sulians capitalized quickly, taking the lead with a converted try. Despite the setback, Quins regrouped, and when Old Sulians had a man sent to the bin 10 minutes later, Dan Pearce powered over from a driving maul to restore Quins' advantage, with David Priddy adding the conversion.
As the half drew to a close, Old Sulians clawed back to level the score at 10-10 with a penalty, setting up a tense second half.
Old Sulians struck first after the break, kicking a penalty to take the lead for the second time. However, Quins were undeterred and responded with Ed Wander’s first try of the season, brilliantly converted by Priddy. The momentum was firmly in Quins' favor when Pearn’s clever chip over the top allowed him to chase down his own kick, feeding Priddy, who crossed the line and added the extras.
Old Sulians were reduced to 14 men for the second time following a late tackle on Quins scrum-half George Beresford, and Quins made the most of their numerical advantage. Ryan Morgan delivered the final blow, slicing through the Old Sulians defense to score under the posts, sealing the 31-13 victory.
This was another fine display from Quins, earning them five valuable points in a venue that has historically been a challenging ground for the team. A special mention goes out to the Sulians president for acknowledging the Quins’ rugby values, with both teams enjoying a well-earned drink in the bar after the match.
Four from four for the mighty Blue, Black & White!
